This short but profound safari takes you deep into Uganda’s tropical forests. Kibale Forest is world-renowned for its chimpanzee populations; Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to the endangered mountain gorillas. You stay in forest lodges near the trek zones, guided by experts with conservation ties. It’s demanding, physically and emotionally, but more than worth it for the once-in-a-lifetime encounters. Travel is designed to be efficient, but respectful of nature & local communities.

It can be physically demanding: forest terrain, steep slopes, damp and muddy conditions. But pace is slow, guides help; trek duration varies depending on gorilla movement.
Gorilla and chimp permits are limited and in high demand. Booking 3-6 months ahead (or more in peak season) is strongly recommended.
Waterproof hiking boots, long trousers, long-sleeved shirt, rain jacket, gloves, insect repellent, binoculars, camera, layers, and head torch.
Some risk (malaria, tropical diseases) depending on region; ensure vaccinations, bring prophylaxis if recommended. Guides maintain safety protocols.
Lodges near Kibale and Bwindi offer good comfort: private bathrooms, hot showers (though sometimes limited), and cozy settings. But expect more rustic/natural settings than luxury safari camps.
Bwindi sits at an altitude (~1,500-2,400 meters), so mornings/evenings may be cool; rainfall is possible. Pack layers.
